Idaho was created when President Abraham Lincoln established Idaho Territory on March 4, 1863; and its citizens have been commemorating 150th Anniversaries connected to the national observance of the Civil War Sesquicentennial which is ending in April 2015. Unfortunately, this four year period of remembrance also includes the tragic assassination of President Lincoln on April 14, 1865...a few short weeks after his Second Inauguration on March 4, 1865 and after the surrender of Confederate...

For the December 17, 2014 meeting o the Idaho Civil War Roundtable, the topic will be "December 1864: How newly re-elected President Abraham Lincoln and his family spent their last Christmas in the White House." As always, the meeting will be held starting at 6:30pm at the downtown branch of the Boise Public Library located at 715 S. Capitol Blvd in the 3rd floor Marion Bingham room. The program is free and open to the public.
